Cdm 1250 scan question

Post by moustache »

Hello,

My radio was programmed for user selectable scan, or so I was told.
My short cut button number one is what I would use. When I tap it I get the following,
Add channel, delete channel, priority.
My short cut three button toggles between three separate lists of frequencies.
I think I read in a manual someplace that the dtmf mike is required to use the selectable scan function.
can anyone who has one of these radios with the user select scan please give me your input as to what I should be doing to edit my scan list or what the radio should do.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

To edit my scan lists I just select the add channel and I am able to add channels to the scan list. The same goes for deleting channels making them priorityas well. If you would like to select a feature you would have to program one of the buttons to be able to select and another to exit.

Hi thanks for the reply, I hope I am not sounding crazy, but how are you adding and deleting?
Do you go to the channel you want to delete or add first and then access the scan list menu?
I can't tell what is on my list and what isn't. what sequence should I follow?

Sincerely

Andy

I don't have it in front of me but from what I can remember you would select the add channel or delete etc.. Then a channel appears on the screen cycle through them with your arrow keys and then use the selct button to confirm the selection. I will check when I get home, but i believe this is how it is done. Hope it helps!

Hi,

Played around with my radio and this is what I get.
Add channel, delete channel, selcted channel. When I press the select button again it just shows the channel I was on . And still the channel I want to get rid of is on my scan list. Is it possible there was a problem with the programming? Just want to be sure it isn't anything I am doing before I go back to the person who programmed it. Any help is again greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to enter the programming mode by selecting Program Lists in the menu and then scan list. My CDM is not allowing me at this time to access it, but my HT1250 does without a problem and I can edit easily by following the steps above.

What menus and menu features are available to the user is a CPS programming function. In order to get access to Program Lists/Scan, you need to have that activated as a menu item by your radio programmer.

I was told by the programmer that he activated everything for user selectable scan.
He also tells me that he was able to add or delete channels before he sent the radio back to me.
But I can get to add delete channels on the menu and priority.
The radio doesn't give me a message saying channel entry saved or entry deleted. I do get a message saying list full when I try to add a channel. I am not sure if i am doing something wrong or if the radio is?

As the radio is now national weather is on my scan list so i can not scan at all.

Can anyone walk me through the prioceedure for editing my list.

I would really appreciate it.

I am aware of this. I must have not activated it when I was going through the software. I was simply wondering if the OP was going about editing the scan list the same as myself.

These radios can only scan 16 channels at a time. That is why you are getting the error message when you try to add a channel to the scan list. You must delete some before you add more. Have you tried deleting the National Weather? If so do you still get hung up on it when it scans? If it does not stop on National Weather then we know that you have the ability to delete channels. Then try to add a channel.

Hello,
I spoke to the programmer,
We walked through the add delete sequence and after checking his notes he realized that he accidentally programmed my select button as an exit button. Hope this sounds right. he is going to make the correction for me. He says the software for the cdm 1550 and 1250 is simular but a little confusing.

Thanks again for everyones input and help.

A lot of the cps is written with reverse Polish notation. There's plenty of opportunity to do it perfectly wrong. Unfortunately. However, on the bright side, Kenwood and Icom can be just as weird. And Telex. And Premisys. Wait until you get a Huawai fiber optic mux developed with a Chinese character set keyboard and you're working with a qwerty through the English CLI interface frustrated that it won't take your commands until you finally read in the man pages that they use the ; key as the Enter. It is so very helping of you to enjoy commanding. Make happy noise now please. ;
