XTS MDC ID Display.. How Do I ...??

Post by hvacesu78 »

I have the MDC ID display activated
How do I delay the display time again? So the display remains for a few, not just flash on screen.

I remember its something in the individual personality however I cant find/recall :-?

Thanks ! :D

HVA,
Are you using CPS or RSS? In CPS, I believe it's under the Display Options tab.
I'll double check when I get to the computer with CPS.

What radios do you own?: Radar Range

In the CPS it's under the "Display & Menu" item. In there should be a tab for PTT ID. I think that's it...

Hey All-
I got the feature activated.. Thank You..

However gotta/ question made an observation...

When listening to transmission w/ MDC I do see the ID #.

- However noticed that the display hangs/stays on when the MDC is Pre-Transmission.. which is great !
-When the MDC is Post-Transmission the MDC ID seems to just flash by quick- doesnt hang/stay on

Any ideas? Id like for it to 'hang'/stay on- when listening to Post MDC...can it be done? Did I miss a setting?

Thanks..

In the same screen where you enable/disable PTT ID, you can increase the "end of voice timer" up to 7 seconds. With Pre-PTT ID your radio will display the ID during the transmission + the time listed. With Post-PTT ID, you will only get the time listed.

Ok I made the adjustment you said.
Still NO go.

Like I said its just only those w/ Post MDC ID. I hear the voice audio the mdc 'bleep' then the ID: # flahses quick...

Any other settings to try? I cant seem to locate.
Thanks

John,
Well, I didn't think to ask, but are you listening to the MDC through a repeater? If so, the hang-time is probably wiping out your MDC PTT ID. What I mean by that is the once your radio detects the PTT ID packet, it displays the MDC ID #, but because most repeaters normally have a bit of hang-time, the radio sees this as a new transmission and the display will revert back to the channel name. If you are doing this in simplex mode, then I'm not sure why it wouldn't leave the PTT ID displayed for the duration that you have programmed. My XTS3000 will leave the ID on the screen until the timer expires or it detects a new transmission.

I hope that helps. Might not be what you wanted to hear, but I think that there isn't any way around it.

Ok, I will have to experiment using simplex w/ the xts.
and YES i am monitoring thru a repeater.. so when a unit dekeys, i hear the bleep and it flashes by like I indicated, even after adjusting the end of voice timer...on my XTS

Now.. heres food for thought... using an HT1250 w/ MDC ID Decode ON, the MDC ID display remains on when I monitor SIMPLEX and REPEATER MDC Pre and POST MDC ID's.
Wassssup with that?

there has to be a setting/adjustment I am over looking.

Thanks !

John:

I've had the exact same issues with my AS3, and have not been able to find a solution. I have also noticed that the 1250 does not seem to have the same difficulties. Probably even listening to the same repeater........

I think that it is probably simply the nature of the beast, just like not having QCII on the Astros (No, I'm not over that yet! )
