AstroTAC Remote Control

Post by pluto1914 »

I'm looking to see if the AstroTac comparator comes with any type of remote control capabilities from Motorola? I'm looking for Force-Vote, Disable, Enable, etc. I know CTI makes a product called MCN, but was curious if Motorola made their own product that could be run over an IP network.

Thanks.

Not that I am aware of. Every customer who has a "monitored" AstroTAC that I've worked with has purchased the MCN solution... And via Motorola no less. That would lead me to believe that Motorola uses CTI's product for it's customers that wish to have monitoring/control capability for the AstroTAC.

I'm also not sure the thing actually gives a realtime voted display in digital mode due to the nature of the way the digital voting scheme works (assembling final product based on BERs from the remotes, and using various pieces of data from each receiver to give you what you end up hearing).

It is kind of a shame that CTI requires it's own "private" non-ethernet network to carry the data back to the workstations. You'd think they'd have gotten with the times.

Hope this helps.

Sounds good. I have looked at the CTI soluion before. I'm exploring upgrades to our infrastructure and one of the items on my list is remote comparator control.

I think CTI does offer ethernet connectivity with their HIB-IP with the CIB or AIB tied to the comarator. Unless I read it wrong. http://www.ctiproducts.com/DocumentDown ... aSheet.pdf

Thank you.
