Tom, any chance you could post one or two photos here? I'm looking for mounting ideas for my Volkswagen GTI.

Thanks!

Subaru mobile mount...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

I will dig out the name of the manufacturer whose
stuff I used for my Subaru install. It basically consists
of a large suction cup with a piece of metal flex
attached with a mounting plate on the other end.
It works fine for a control head but a complete
radio would be too heavy and bulky for the job.
My IC208H is in the back of the OB wagon mounted
on the side storage area cover near the power outlet.
If I knew how to post jpgs here I would do so but I
don't so anyone who wants to see them please just
send me your e-mail address and I'll send them directly
to you.

Mobile mounting setup...

Post by Tom in D.C. »

I promised to post the source of the mounting system I've
used in my car and here it is, with some notes:

1. Pro.Fit International, Egan, MN
2. http://www.pro-fit-intl.com
3. The page with the suction cup mounts is at:
http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/page5.html

All their stuff is on the website and they are easy people
to work with. The basic mounting point is done with either
a large suction cup or a stick-on cup with high-grade
adhesive. I use the front unit with the suction cup for
the IC208 control head and the same setup in the back
of the car for the speaker. It's really the kind of system
that's limited only by your imagination.
