GM360 head interchangability

GM360 head interchangability

is it possible to swap around GM360 head units between radios and between VHF & UHF radios?

I have a box of assorted V and U gm360 gear. I have one VHF unit up & running nicely and Im able to prog it fine from the ctrl head mic socket. but I seem to run into trouble when I change around other control heads.

is this a design feature? if so could anyone comment on why? (seems troublesome to NOT be able to change around ctrl heads freely)
is it possible to reprog the ctrl heads to fit any radio?
or am I barking mad.
or do I have a bunch of wonky gear?

You can change them without any programming!
