Need advice on setting up Saber RSS

I had a legal copy of Saber RSS running for years on a 386 Toshiba laptop. Looks like the motherboard went belly up and I need to move the RSS onto a different platform. Are there any "fixes" to allow RSS to run on something faster? Slowest laptop I have with a com port is an old ToughBook with a P4.
