800 Astro Spectra Question

Post by scvfd1204 »

Will an 800 Astro Spectra withe flashcode 5000080004800 follow a Type II Smartnet Omnilink 4.1 CAI system with digital and analog TGs as well as a P25 system and 800 analog conventional and P25 conventional?

I can't seem to find any detailed information regarding this. I have dealt with trunking and all before, but the P25 side of things is something I still don't 100 percent understand. It was my thought that the 9600 baud stuff was 100 percent P25/digital and no analog...

Yes, it will work on both Smartzone V4 and Astro 25, but you'll need the latest HOST to support rebanding on SZ4/type II. It will also NOT do 700MHz, so if your Astro 25 system has any 700MHz channels, forget it. I have one right now on Astro25 and SZV4, and it works fine on conventional analog/digital as well.

A breakdown of the features, courtesy of Akardam.net Flashcode decoder:

G806: ASTRO IMBE Digital Operation
G114: Enhanced Digital ID Display
G51: SmartZone Systems Operation
G173: SmartZone Omnilink MultiZone Operation
G361: ASTRO 25 9600 Baud Trunking

Thanks for the reply. I have never dealt with 9600 & 3600 baud in the same radio at the same time.

There are no 700 MHz freqs in the system for now, thank goodness, but some sites are rebanding. What is the newest HOST version the Astro Spectras?

HOST 10.72.00 is the magic number for rebanding and P25 9600 trunking in an Astro Spectra. Any older or newer than that and 9600 trunking won't work, even if it's in the flash.

You sure about 9600 not working with anything older? My Astro Spectra W7 has HOST ver 10.24 and DSPN08.08.03 and works fine on 9600.
