Does anyone know what the 3 in the Motorola R2038D service monitor model number stands for?

The XX in an R20XX-D model number indicates some combination of options added to the basic R2001-D instrument.

An R2038-D is an R2001-D with the RS-232-C and cellular options. (source R3-9-51F)
