cdm 1250 remote mount question

Post by moustache »

Hello I purchased a remote mount part number 4802 for my radio. The part that attaches to the transciever seems a little small and the radio doesn't work when hooked up. does anyone know if this is the correct part? Also do I have to have the raio programmed a special way to operate with this remote mount.
Any info and help is greatly appreciated.

A CDM radio does not require any special programming to use the remote head configuration.
The part number you gave, 4802, doesn't sound like the full part number. Is that the number on the cable that connects the RF deck to the control head?

Did you swap the ribbon flex cables fom he radio control head, to the remote end?
This has to be done in order for the remote head to function, note the marking orientation as well, it is required.

No need to program the radio in a special manner, the remote head just places the controls away from the radio's body, nothing is altered.

That's what I figured, just wanted to make sure he wasn't looking at the date code tag or whatever it is thats often on the end of the remote separation cable. I've heard of people using CAT 5 cable for the separation kits, which apparently works OK, however a mis-wired one would cause issues. I know I've screwed up a few crimps before.

The factory cable is 10 conductor, I do not think a cat5 cable will work.
Cause Motorola said so that's why

If I recall correctly, the 4 pair cable will work. The outer two conductors are used for handset audio when using the telephone style handset.

I could be confusing that with the 10 pin mic connector, forgive me if I'm wrong.

I am thinking that you need to remove the trim ring adapter from the transceiver for the remote mount cover to fit on it properly. Make sure you align the "dots" on the flex and connector when you plug them in or the radio wont work.

As a side note, Cat5 works just fine if you dont have the regular Motorola cable. I have done a dozen or so that way with no issues.

Hello, according to the Motorola site my kit number4802 is for the GM338, GM399, GM398 series radios. Can anyone use this kit and possibly trade for a cdm 1250 kt which I believe is the 4802A.

Any help is appreciated..

Thanks,
Would anyone have information on the different ways a cdm ht 1250 can be programmed to scan.
What unassigned means and any further info would be appreciated.
My work has the radio programmed to scan everything when the button is hit and I have to keep hitting the delete button to get the channels i want to hear.

Unassigned means exactly what it says, that slot has no assignment to scan anything. And don't know how many channels you have in that radio but each scan list can only hold 16 channels
