APX7500 O9 Control Head
I have a customer that is looking at the APX7500 mobile with the O9 control head. He is looking for feedback from our shop regarding this product (since no agency in our area currently has anything other than the O5 control head), but we don't have anything like this out there except for old Spectra Systems 9000's.
Does anyone out there have experience with this product? What do I need to connect siren and lights to this?

You can use the 1439? Motorola siren box, and Motorola also offers a remote relay box. Both are connected by the CAN cable IIRC. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll dig up the part numbers/manuals later tonight. Also let him know that typical contract price for the head itself is around $1200.

HLN1439 is the siren
PMUN1046 looks to be the O9 Universal Relay Controller

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
HLN1439 sounds familiar. Was that the same siren used with the Astro Spectra Systems 9000? This looks doable.
Does anybody have one that can share some operational experiences?
And, btw, the customer is going to be making up the difference over a O5 head with a Whelen siren controller herself (supposedly). This will be going into the incoming chief's own personal Cadillac Escalade EXT.

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
You best bet is to jump on your MOL account and download the APX7500 and O9 manuals/guides to see whats involved (which isn't much).
If she is going to use a Whelen siren then there is no need to jump to an O9 head, especially if your not using any of the advanced head/data functions (IMHO) (and save the additional $1200). The 1439 siren is the same ones used with the Astro Spectra/XTL5000

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
Is the APX7500 O9 Control Head can be installed into the some car (central console) instead of some factory car control panel? Or it's desined only to be installed in new place?

The major console manufacturers make faceplates for it

Faceplates to install where?
In place 1 or place 2?

Guess you need a bigger console then...
There is a member here that has the same platform vehicle with an O9, some O5's and other toys in on nice Havis console.

My question is about installation place # 2. Instead of factory car controls/car radio.

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
Never get rid of the good music. The install manual I believe has dimentions of the head, or even possibly the Moto site

The only way your going to mount it in the dash of a vehicle is to do a custom fabrication.

O9 is limited only to APX7500? No way to run it with XTL5000?

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
Correct. It WAS suppose to be introduced with the XTL5000 many years ago (I had pictures of the prototype from the Moto sales guy) but due to an engineering snafu, it was pushed back to the APX line.

I hope that it's just software limitation. Just to promote APX mobiles.

Don't plan on it being seen on the XTL line, which should be nearing its sales life shortly.

If space is an issue check out the O7 head.
Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
And after rereading the above, yes...you can put it in any console circled #2. #1 will require custom fabrication.
All the console manufactures make faceplates for it, and usually requires 7" of console space.

Re: APX7500 O9 Control Head
Guys,
I just thinked that O9 designed for some popular police car (e.g. like CrownVic), but can be used on any other car with faceplate. But I'am been wrong. Nothing special in O9 for card.
