Is there any motos that have been successfully converted to 220?Bill, K5MSW
I have seen web pages for modifications of GP300's to 220 MHz. Requires replacement of some components and retuning, but it can be done.

Yes. a large number of moto' products have a power selector switch
Just about every moto product can be put on 220MHz
I have a HT200/HT220/MT500 and a PT300, all on 220MHz.
Most early era hams remember taking low-band radios and putting them on 6 meters, the process is easier bumping a VHF to 220MHz.
The 6 meter conversion sometimes required a doubler or tripler be addad to the circuit, or changing the muliplier to do the same thing.
What I think is neat, military radios, the /\/\ talkie I have goes from 30MHz to 512MHz, no gaps, AM or FM,.
The Gov't is somewhat pissed right now, so no new surplus sales of military radios for quite some time, I am not real happy, I love "green" radios.

I have got to get me one of those!!
Currently I am plotting on one of those sincgars radios, but most of the ones I've seen only go up to about 225 or maybe 300 Mhz.
At least they took care of the keyloading "problem". No KY-57 or KVL is required on the newer models. You can load it with the front panel keypad. Woo Hoo! I wish I could do that with my saber or spectra. Gotta get that hopper board too. That makes it extra cool.
