I have been asked to come up with some sort of headset for our mobile communications trailer.
Currently, it is configured with 6 radios, 2 CDM1550 VHF, 2 CDM1550 UHF and 2 XTL2500 800.
Ideally what I would like are 2 headset stations, with some way to select what radios you wish to listen to and transmit on.
I am thinking something along the lines of the Trident Comm-Tac2, but not sure if that is the solution or not, or if I could connect 2 of them to each radio.
Anyone have any suggestions to steer me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Re: Headset Solution
Sounds to me like you need a simple console of some kind. The Zetron 4010 desktop would be a good fit. It can handle up to 12 radios. Don't know how many headsets can be attached.

Re: Headset Solution
Plus one on a small console. Simple headset to radios can be found here:

but you'll have to roll your own switching for multiple radios. I've done it with a rotary switch.

Lots and lots of watts...

I have used these in a couple of command vehicles. They work very well.

An "Interoperability" package that might be of interest if you have any funding is the RIOS gateway made by the Sytech Corp. in Alexandria, VA. ( www.sytechcorp.com ) Take a look at their web site for additional information.
Their gateway can use computers as a dispatch center and provide all sorts of neat things. It even has a built in instant replay and a recording option. There is the ability to provide dual tone paging that the fire departments use all the time. It will allow for patching the radios together as needed. The IP link that the gateways uses is a mesh network, unlike the spoke and hub that several of the other vendors use. It will link just fine over the normal Internet or a satellite connection.
Not exactly what you asked about, but worth a consideration.

Re: Headset Solution
I make adapter cables for most headsets to plug into the radio mic jack.
