C100 and L1548A

Post by 0037 »

Hello all,

Our department has C100 desktop units and a l1548A tone panel. The C100s are already mounted throughout the station but were disconnected a few years back due to upgrading equipment. The techs disconnected the tone panel and old radio and replaced it.

We want to reconnect this equipment if possible, but we are not sure exactly how it was connected. The tone panel is hooked up to the wireline system in the station to the C100 units. We have an old analog radio set up(our dispatch switched to digital P25 but still uses analog paging on the same old frequency) that works fine. I have the plug that goes into the back of the radio, which has a serial(DB9?) on the other end. I have no idea what this series plug goes into. The tone panel has a radio interface connection, a phone jack( that goes to the c100s) and a ground. There is no power port.

The missing link is between the serial cable and the tone panel. Does anyone have an idea what I am missing?

Thanks.

It may be worth noting that this only needs to be receive only. Is it possible to bypass the tone remote and just connect audio to the phone line that goes to the C100?

It would help if you provided the make and model of the radio your trying to connect up with.

This is like your calling a tow truck to come fix your flat tire. Your located in Home Depot's parking lot. You neglected to provide the tow truck driver with the kind of car your driving, the color and just where you are in the parking lot.

We use have used a CDM1250 and GM300. Any Motorola with the 16/20 pin connector. I found the wire that plugs into the radio but the other end of it has a serial connector. There is something missing between this connector and the tone panel.

Since we only need audio(no tx, channel steering, monitor, etc) is there a simple way to send audio to the C100 remotes? The only reason we want this done is because our Minitor Vs do not pick up as well as we would like(they usually alert but audio is very distorted) inside our metal building.

I am in the process of building a simple station alerter using a Minitor IV and and amp charger with a relay to supplement the station audio, but that is a separate project. If the tone panel deal does not work I may simply use the Min IV to activate the relay as well as use audio from it and wire up new speakers in the station.

You can pick up RX audio that is not affected by the volume control on pin 11 of the accessory connector. This is line level or there about and could be feed into a PA amp for the station or your remote adapter.

Pin 11 Filtered Audio
Pin 7and 9 ground
