Re: XPR 5550 UHF Question
It is 403-470 MHz (Indicated by the "Q" in the model number) and will do 25 kHz but only if you use CPS that has the wideband EID enabled (free if you have an MOL account and jump through some hoops).

Re: XPR 5550 UHF Question
GPS is basically for automatic vehicle location for dispatch purposes.. It's not APRS.
In a properly set up system a dispatcher behind a computer can see where all their units are.

Re: XPR 5550 UHF Question
I was looking for some way that it triggers every so often or ? I accidentally found in radio menu my location but wanted to figure out if others could see me if I didn't hit an emergency
Thanks?
Thanks?
Re: XPR 5550 UHF Question
As far as I know, you have to use third party software and some infrastructure in order to fully utilize the GPS/AVL functionality (on digital channels only). Usually, the software tells the radios how often to send location data. Here is simply one example: http://tablet.media/products/eztrackertrbo/
Otherwise, as you've found, you can enable GPS and view your coordinates/bearing/speed, etc. but that's about it.

Re: XPR 5550 UHF Question
In the ham world APRS location via DMR GPS is supported on the Brandmeister network, but not on DMR-MARC.
