Can read 2500 with 05 head but cannot program soft buttons

I have a radio I can read and modify everything except the soft buttons on the 05 head. The "drop downs" will not drop down and the buttons are greyed out. Using current software and the radio is functioning. Just needed to change a frequency pair and modify the soft buttons.
