Differences between UHF 7550 and 7550e?

What are the differences between the two versions, including analog and MotoTRBO operation in the 440 MHz amateur band?

That post is quite comprehensive but the legacy models have been discontinued for a while now. For amateur use, all models cover 403-512 MHz out of the box so no need to worry about out of band. For analog though, you'll need an Entitlement ID for the CPS to allow wideband (25 kHz). Otherwise, they work great for amateur analog or DMR.

Thank you very much for the info. I got an Entitlement ID about 6+ years ago for my original CPS when I had a 5550 UHF mobile. Is another one required for the new CPS 2?

I own both. Except for the thin grey border around the PTT button on the “E”, they work the same. Both radios have the hottest receiver I have ever seen. I figured since they were the full band split vs the 6550, they’d be slightly deaf, but that’s not the case. GARY

I can confirm that as long as you install CPS 2 on a PC that already has older CPS with the wideband EID, then CPS 2 recognizes that and also allows 25 kHz programming.
