One hell of a damn good reason not to live up there! Sorry if this offends but I mean really, come on!
I would be so damn paranoid to live in Canada, especially after that. I don't know how you guys put up with it.

I know every time I get stopped the first thing they ask when they see my maxtrac is '' what's the two way radio for ?" , I don't know how they would react if they knew it had their frequency (receive only) programmed in it.would likely freak out.

The scarry thing is that with all the hightened security because of terrorism, law enforcement types everywhere are likely to be even more paranoid about things they don't understand - especially high tech things like digital two-way radios.

Gotta ask, what grounds did they convince a judge to issue a search warrant on ?

Wow, wouldn't imagine the judge is too happy with the officer on who's
info. he relied on in the issuance. How did you come into RCMP's sights ?

I'm sure Shaun could tell it best, but most of the whole sordid affair can be found here:

Wow!! Do all your neighbors think your a spy or a mafia member now, or did they think it was someone shooting a movie or reality tv show!!

I believe I would have suffered cariac arrest after that! Oh, and did you get any newspaper or media coverage of the event! That would have been cool seen from a traffic copter on the evening news!

I think it really sucks that you have has suck rotten luck with your local PD. Over here in Monrovia, I have had just the opposite happen where they are GLAD that I have the ability to monitor most everything that happens in/around the area.

After I spent a few minutes explaining what/why I do what I do, they were very happy/excited to spend a few minutes playing with my XTS perusing LAPD's dispatch channels and the like. It seemed that they had not been informed that most people who have these kind of radio's outside of using them for work, really do like them for the hobby, and don't want to F*** with the natural flow of public safety. I have a really good working relationship with Monrovia's PD and that of many surrounding communities. One major problem is that all that they have ever heard about people with “walkie talkies” is all negative. News of people jamming LAPD dispatch with 110W Astro Spectra’s only hurts the hobby-which is why I support public stoning of those found to be doing so

I find that Knowledge is indeed the greatest power one can attain and wield. It all rests in how it is used. The more people you can educate on the hobby and its benefits, the better off we all will be.
