The other day at the swap meet I found what I belive to be a programming cable for the spectra radio. I'm told that this cable will allow programming of this radio throught the mic connector on the front of the radio. I've tried to use the cable but it does not work.
Has anyone heard or seen this cable and have any info on its proper use?
Thanks, Demoh

You may have picked up a keyloader cable. On Secure capable Spectras, the keyload port looks similar to the mic port, but uses a different set of pins. Programming of the radio is done via either the DB15 on the back if it's a mid-poert wadio or the DB25 on a high-power radio or a mid-power radio with the 2nd DB25.
There is a cable that allowed you to program from the Spectra mic jack.
The programming pins appear there, Buss+, Buss-, and of course ground. We use one to change the radio's programming on a dash mount Spectra in the field without having to remove the radio from the vehicle. We have a super long cable from the computer to the RIB so the computer stays in the service vehicle.
I guess you call that "curb service"!
