Minitor II Frequency Change

Post by VolFirefighter911 »

What is involved in changing the frequency of a UHF Minitor II to another frequency within the UHF band? Is this something I could do on my own?

What radios do you own?: JT1K VHF, MT1K VHF/UHF/800C

If they are programmable(I don't know) it will need to be taken to a radio shop to change freq.(unless you have the capabilities) And if it has a crystal, it can be done by you, providing you have the right crystal.

It is pretty simple, even without a service manual. Pick up a copy of the service manual cheap on Ebay.

min 2 freq change

Post by FFCARTER46 »

hi,

all you have to do is buy a new rf board on the freq you want of ebay or a shop! take the pager apart and there is a small board at the bottom of the pager! it takes up about half the side! unplug it and slide the new one in! simple as that!!! i had this same prob a while back and i asked on here and it took me about 5 mins to do! good luck

Minitor II is crystal, order the crystal from Bomar and the like. open pager, put battery in, wrap with rubber band to keep the batt in. Wait for transmission on the channel you want to change, put your finger over 2 leads on either of the crystals, when the transmission drops that's the crystal to change. All this is assuming you can do this kind of small work with some very small tools, and a 40 w pencil iron not a weller.

Soldering small leads is not what I want to get into. Anyone here offer this service? Price?

Servicing a Pager.

Post by Susan157 »

To service a pager to get the correct
Receive sens.it should be placed on a
test jig and tuned .

You can test the rx before you change the
freq. and you know what the sens. is.
Do the change out then read the rx
sens. again and youknow how much to retune.

RETUNING is the only proper way to go.

I had three wires come loose on the channel 7 stand up board on my MT, I must say it wasn't fun trying to solder them back on. I used a 30Watt pencil iron, I had minor burns to my fingers, I had lots of fun! :)
