Motracs & Mocom 70s used the same head. You could use that head on a Mitrek with a little mod so you don't blow up the audio stage. I can't be absolutely sure, but didn't /\/\ have a Motran model too?
Ahh, the good old days...(daze)

Control Heads
That's what they are---Just finished dumping eight of them--complete Motracs, Heads, speakers, Microphones, cables and all in dumpster at work yesterday...Nobody wanted them..(even for free).
Got the refurb'd blues - I have:
Single channel
Single channel with PL on/off
2 channel
4 channel
2 channel simul-mon
12 channel
CHP 6 channel with colored "dot" PL select
Channel scan unit
Scrambler unit.
All Motrac/Motran/Mocom heads, refurb'd in Desert Tan. Too bad they won't work on the newer stuff.........
Ah, well - the good old daze......

Well Jack, you could use one as a remote mount sort of for a volume and squelch control. No, you couldn't change modes on some of the newer radios, and if you had just a . . . mitrek maybe, or micor. . . set up as a single channel rig, and just needed power on/off, volume and squelch, yeah, you could make it look good. Power for the power indicator would be easy, and the PTT indicator wouldn't be tough either. In fact, you've given me an idea or two. Those old Adam12 control heads take me back to my childhood riding with my Mom when she was a cab driver in the mid 60s. Yessirrebuddy, want to send me one of those single channel heads?

Too bad ... I know of some antique fire truck and police car collectors who would have taken those. I had a box of control heads that a guy who is restoring an LAPD car took just for the parts alone...
I tried my best to get someone to take them around here within 50 or so miles--Even offered them free at hamfests.no takers. Really sad part was that they all worked. Still 100 watts out when I done my yearly checks and tuneups on them.. Only thing I saved were channel elements tone reeds and all tubes.. Somebody somewhere surely will need some tubes..

Up until a few years ago, we still used these where I work. In fact, we even had some older ones; the control heads were a little different, the red and green lamps were larger, also the mic was hard wired into the bottom of the control head instead of a plug in. I don't know what models these were. Anyone?

Sheesh, I can remember the Miramar Police Department in Florida had one of those still in active duty as late as 1991 in a 1980 K Blazer that had to be driven if all of the take-home cars and the pool cars were all in use or broke down. What a beast. I moved on the first day in 91 I wonder if the still have that beast.

My vhf, single ch, T-power has a control head similer to the ones mentioned.
it is more oval then the motran/motrac heads and the mic does plug into it.
i also have a 4 ch scan adaptor for the motrac/motran radios and have seen the tone decoder with reeds in it before.
cannot remember if it was single or two tone but the tone(s) were higher then pl tones and the unit was used to flash lights or the horn.
a control head with both of the add on's must have been one imperssive and large "stack".
