You renew it online with the FCC uls system, or you can do it at qrz.com for like $5. Don't let it lapse!

And yes, I'm a ham too - the user name should give me away. Have been for over 28 years.

Can I renew it early? I leave for Spain in 77 days. I'd like to do it now to get it out of the way. I really don't want to be in Spain when I renew it. I also want to get a reciprocal for Spain. I used to have one for Japan when I was there (7J6CDD). Thanks,

N3ASL / Extra. Located in SW Florida.
I got interested in radios during the 70's while a firefighter. We had low band radios (33.98Mhz) and could hear skip from other departments throughout the country. Ended up getting my license so that I could use 6 meters--still my favorite band.

I've been a ham for half-a-year and rarely have time to do anything with it.

Sure, I've got Motorola radios running 440 and and 2 meters but most of the time they're scanning or being used for other, non ham frequencies (such as railroads, PDs, etc)

KC8UTI is my callsign, and I live in Wyandotte Michigan, which is just south of Detroit- and unlike Detroit, it is a nice place to visit and live!!

I frequent 2 meters mostly and tune into the net on the 147.24+ repeater Tuesdays.

You can do it 90 days in advance. Go to http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/amateu ... newal.html for details. You have to associate your license with your FRN which is 0008135113 (I got that from the license search page) and create a password in CORES (do that now). June 14 you can renew your license online.

I'm not a HAM operator yet, but I did like the movie "Frequency"! :D I will be soon, hopefully. My 10-20(location) is Beeville, Texas. I think there is (1) ham operator that lives here that can help me out getting started, so it won't be that hard.:)

name says it all =). Extra class. Licensed since 1993 (and just renewed through ULS. Didn't feel like using a stamp to send my app to the ARRL, or $6 + stamp to w5YI. Plus is ULS you can specify an expiry Month / day. I left it where it was because that date is easy for me to remember.

Count me in as one of the "Amateurs," as you can tell by my user name. I've been licensed for 35 years. I've been an extra class for 15+ years, did it back in the old days when you had to do 20 WPM code. I operate mostly VHF, UHF and do a lot of commercial radio converstions and build repeaters. I've been concentrating mostly on 900 MHz lately. I am also a volunteer examiner for both Amateur and GROL licenses.

I don't work in the electronics or communications industry, so I always look forward to working in the shop when I get home.

Been one for 25+ years...

Formerly WD6EOS, first licensed in California (Berkeley) in December, 1977. Stayed active ever since, but didn't upgrade to Extra until June of 2000, when the licensing restructure dropped the 20WPM code requirement (I could never get past about 8-10).

That's when I got my current vanity call, KC7GR. Think of it as 'Keeps Collecting 7 Green Radios" (I'm into mil-spec stuff).

As soon as I become employed again (between jobs at the moment) I will most likely join QCWA.

I spent 7 years with Motorola, working in COSC's (Back when the Comm Sector still had a field service division, and company-owned shops), which is where I picked up most of my experience. Considering the number of other hams that just want to use their radios, and not worry about the guts, I decided to make RF services part of my side business (which started out just by selling mil-spec connectors).
