Maratrac Scanning Difficulties
Hello!
I have recently purchased, installed and had programed a Maratrac VHF Radio. Everything went well until I placed the radio on scan. It appears that there is some type of Scan Talkback enabled, but I could not find how to disable it in the programing program. (neither could the facility programming it)
The radio was programed using the Radius M400 software (I don't know the ver #).
I really need the radio to return to the Priority Channel when I pick up from scan while another mode is active, but I can not figure it out.
Any help out there?
Thanks in advance.
Doug

I have made sure that the Hang Up Box Operation is set for Stop Scan, but it is still acting like Talk Back Scan. I have set both the scan resume after carrier drop and after tx to 3 seconds. I have played with changing both the Hang Up Box Operation and that scan resume times, and it didn't help, it is still hanging on the active mode when I pick the mic up out of the cradle.
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Doug

What type of hang-up do you have? Maybe it is not actually going off hook.
Try setting the resume times to zero also.
I will have to fire up RSS to see if there might be something else....
I had to play to get mine acceptable for scan talkback, but I remember it used to do what you want it to.... ie when ever mic is picked up, it goes back to the channel where you started scanning from or home. Is there a "home revert" somewhere? Some radios have that.....

I am using a regular metal mic clip, grounded to the chasis.
When I am in scan, with no one talking, and I pick up the mic, the red scan light goes out and it remains on the priority channel, until I hand the mic up again.
I appreciate you assistance, I hope the problem can be figured out!
Thanks again!

I will have to try resetting the "dwell" times to zero and see what happens. I too have the 99 channel head, and everything if fine with that. Currently I have just been picking up the mic, and pressing the HOME button to get back to my priority channel before transmissing, but I know there has to be a better way.
Thanks,

OK, so if you pick up the mic, scan light goes out, it stays on the active channel even after your 3 second setting? hmmmm
....good luck....
Actually , I wish mine did that. As it is now, for scan talkback, I have to grab the mic, click it to set my longer (tx) hang time or else I end up txing on the wrong ch.
I like the maxtrac where it will stay as long as the mic is off hook, the resume when replaced....

Well, I got to finally read some of the past posts on the BB. I found one from Sept 01 that dealt with the same problem. The set both of the dwell times to 0, and it corrected the problem. I will try that tomorrow and see if it works. You would think that there would be a scan talk back toggle in the programming, but I guess not.
