Codeplug Database

Post by franko »

Hi all,

I want to thank those who made this database available and those who have contributed CP's to it. I have uploaded a CP for a GTX portable 800 to the site and have some others I want to contribute.

But before I send anymore I wanted to make sure I was doing it correctly. To check, I downloaded the CP I sent and can't seem to restore it when in my RSS!

I did the F3 F3 and the correct archive path and the RSS doesn't find it.What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks for any info.

When the GTX RSS saves a codeplug, it also writes information to the GTX.DBF file. Without this DBF file, the RSS cannot read the codeplug. If you have a directory with other codeplugs in them, and can read them with the RSS, then that is where the DBF file resides. Put your codeplug in that directory, and in the RSS archive screen, there is an option to "add serial number" or something like that at the bottom (no RSS in front of me right now). This will allow you to enter the serial number, and description (if wanted). Once this is done, you will be able to "see" and access the codeplug. Pain in the you-know-what, compared to most other RSS.

What radios do you own?: Motorola, Icom, Sunair (HF).

Say huh?

What is this database? Where's the site? I've not heard of it before.

Think I'll go search the past posts...

Thanks Todd,

I think I did exactly as you said but i'll try again.
I also tried entering the ser. # and the add archive with no luck.

A while back someone was nice enough to send me a maxtrac B4 CP, and I did the "add archive" routine from a floppy on drive a:\ where I had downloaded the B4 CP and it worked perfect.

I did however change the serial # on the GTX CP before uploading it to the site. I don't know if that could cause this problem, I wouldn't think so.

Thanks for the help, I"ll keep trying, if you or anyone else have any other ideas, please let me know.

Best regards to the board

How did you change the CP serial number? If all you did was rename it in DOS or Windows, the RSS will not recognize it under that new number, and you will not be able to access it.

I changed it in the RSS (F2 radio wide).

I only changed the last four digits to 0000.

Thanks

Yes, I've downloaded & used several. I just took a look at the codeplug you uploaded...why did you rename it "GTXH"? The GTX RSS is not like the MTSX & others. It will not recognize the codeplug unless it's in it's proper serial number format. What serial number is it supposed to be? Have you tried changing it back to the serial number format (A866xxxX.XXX) and reading it?

I renamed it to indicate it is a portable (H), even though I know it's in the GTX portable category. Also I saw where the 800 maxtrac CP's were named MAXTRK80.B7 etc. which is not a serial number.

I not only tried the one I sent but also the maxtrac CP's with no luck with them either. I have noticed when I save one of my codeplugs directly to a floppy it also saves the .dbf along with it.

Could you outline the steps you use so I can see what the difference is in what I'm doing ?

I really appreciate your help and patience with this!

I think this is the serial # of the one I sent: 866SXD6042

Ok, now we're getting somewhere. In Windows, I changed the name of the archive from 'GTXH' to 'A866SXD0000' (since you changed it to that in the RSS), and was then able to "F3 - add archive", input 866SXD0000 and voila! I can now read the archive just fine.
It's the same story with the Maxtrac/GM300/GP300/LCS/LTS type RSS. You cannot simply change the name of the codeplug in DOS or Windows like you can with the MTSX/Astro type RSS. It doesn't work that way! So, whoever uploaded the Maxtrac codeplug(s), we need the serial number(s) of the units, or they're useless.

Great!
I'll upload it to the database again but this time I'll use the serial number as name.

The maxtracs were the only other cp's I tried.

Thanks alot!
