Maxtrac Programing trouble

Hi.

I have a 25 watt maxtrac 32 channel UHF radio IM having trouble programing it. when I try to program it to use on a repeater it will not transmit. but if the TX and RX are the same is will transmit. can any tell me if there is a setting I need to do to the radio IM using Maxtrac software version R07.02.00AA. also notice shunts on jumper on the back of the radio any help would be very appreciated

Is the Rptr. input freq. your setting it up for within the freq. range of the radio ? Maxtrac's have pretty tight band edges.

First, when you say 'shunts' on the 'jumper', do you mean jumpers on the connector? Is your connector 5 pin or 16 pin on the back of the maxtrac. Two pins need to be jumpered to use the internal speaker.

As far as not being able to Tx, what do you have the Rx and Tx SQUELCH Type set to? Are you using any type of signalling system? Did you happen to change the RSS to say 'Handset = y'? under 'radio wide configuration', should say 'n' if you are using a handmic, not handset (used for base operations). Also, on the 'radio wide configuration' page, is the 'acc. internal' or 'accessory external' or 'accessory custom' have anything unusual checked.

Since the radio Tx's on simplex, would seem that most of these shouldn't make a difference.

Hi,

thanks for getting back to me I have the 16pin model and there are two of the pins are covered on type of signaling system all I know is the TX is 467.6250 and the RX is 462.6250 and the tone is 173.8. the Handset is N on acc int none acc external remote acc custom n. i did get the radio to work on a repeater but is was RX460.1500 TX465.1500. thanks again for the help,

On the 'radio wide configuration' page, what is the 'uhf band'? Sounds like radiosouth could be right, but it shouldn't be out of band....

Probably just need to tweak the VCO. Someone may have set it to go low. You should be able to get it to do 440-470 with no problems (assuming it is that split radio).
On the RF board, under the lid, in the section farthest away from front of radio, (with front of radio closest to you), there are 2 adjustable coils. L213 is the TX, L202 is the RX.
They are layed out differently depending on which board you have, but if you turn them in clockwise, (assuming they are near the top of the coil) it should go up in freq.
Go to your highest freq, and adjust it till it transmitts, and you should be fine....
