Nextel Mobile Help
Does anybody know if you can program a Motorola Nextel Mobile using the handset or do you need the Super Agent RSS. I have the cable to program the mobile but not the RSS. I have a I-550 but when I get in my car the signal gets bad. I'm a Volunteer Fire Chief and need to have reliable communications. Thanks for your help.
Depends on what you want to do.
There is no usefull programming options in Super Agent, so your not going to get anywhere with that piece of software. I've seen a copy of it at a dealer, and was able to play for a bit. Nothing special, and it really can't do anything cool.
Any programming that anyone would want to change would be able to be set in the handset.
If your having trouble with your handset, you should visit your local dealer, or call customer service at 611.
Other than that, no one here can help you. Your signal is also not related to the programming in your phone if it works outside your vehicle.

RE: Nextel Mobile
Thanks Alex, I know the problem with my handheld is signal and not programming. I live in a rural area and even with external antenna the signal is weak depending on where I'm located. What I want the mobile to do is just utilize the Push To Talk in the private section of the unit to receive and make calls. Having it as a phone is no big deal as long as I have the PTT. I called Nextel and if it's not a handheld model, it's like you're talking greek, and they don't understand mobiles. You would think somebody there would be able to give me instructions on setting this thing up but after about a dozen calls I gave up. Any Ideas or Guru's on Nextel Mobiles out there? It's a Motorola M02UCH6RR6CN with phone cradle and handset. Thanks.

Did everyone know that customer NOTcare at Nextel is totally farmed out? They don't work for Nextel. For a while I had the custcare pretty edumacated, and actually troubleshooting problems, instead of taking blind potshots at the billing system and dorking the fone worse than it was to begin with. But alas, I was I.T., and just had to go...they farmed I.T. out first.
p.s. i worked there for 7 years.

Hello.
What, you do not like the super service they provide?
I called, had the wonderful supervision dude call iDEN support for me.
With the help of the really well informed people there I got the system key for my area, the shop manual for several units, complete with the all important RSS, and a host of other things.
Remember, they are not very bright, you can easily lead them almost anywhere.
Motorola will not release anything on the system without a user ID and password, Nextel reps will not give you one, but will help you get your own.
Gotta love it.

It sounds like you have M370 mobile installed phone. I had one installed in my truck and it worked great. When I installed it I had similar problems like you are having, what I ended up doing is driving to the nearest Nextel service center. A tech came out looked at the unit, he made a phone call programmed the phone number into the phone and low and behold it worked. It worked great unitll I un-installed it a few days ago, I switched to a I95 with a motorla full install kit which works even better. It even has a jack for a external palm mic for direct connect.

Thanks Mike38015, That's all I was trying to get them to do the numerous times I called the idiots All I need is a phone number to activate my IMEI #, the rest I can do from the handset. As I said, I live in the sticks, I think me and one other guy has the only two here in the community The rest of the people run whan they see one. They think we're from Star Trek. I guess I'm going to get in my Ford C.V. Police Special, notify MHP on Low Band I'm comoing and drive 140 miles an hour 300 miles to the nearest form of civilization to get this thing done. Thanks all you guys for the help! Ya'll make a newbe feel welcome. Ya'll got some good stuff here. I read the posts about the guy hooking up the GM300 to a 1.5K linier. Man the guy who wrote that come back post about the stick and stuff made me piss in my pants. Later

i95 Hard Install Kit
I purchased mine on ebay, the guy has more of them here is a link to his current auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=15945
I think he also has them for i85 series also.
The motorola part # on the box for the i95 kit is FLN9882B.
I don't know why they are not listed on either nextel or motorola's iden accessories, every part has a motorola part number and a guine motorola lable on them. I didn't ask but have been told these were made for use in canada but I have not been able to confirm that.
I have also recently heard that motorola within the last two weeks released a hard install kit with the following part number for $260 list price.
NTN9477A subs to RLN5614A Hard install car kit (breakdown of kit follows)
NNTN4227A JUNCTION BOX
SSN4020A 4 WATT EXTERNAL SPEAKER
SMN4107A VISOR MICROPHONE
SKN4922A POWER CABLE
NNTN4249A REMOTE PUSH-TO-TALK
TRN5502A INSTALLATION BRACKET
If I understand correctly it is very similar to what I just purchase with different part numbers. I am very pleased with the one I bought on ebay. It has plenty of volume and I especially like the ability to use a regular motorola palm mic with a rj connector. I am on the road alot and use direct connect most of the time so the palm mic and the external antenna makes a big difference.
If you like I can take a few photos of my install (2003 Chevy Pickup) and post them here.

For thespoon
If you know how to program the number into the handset you should be able to activate the phone by giving them the imei number. The problem I had was I couldn't get the phone into the programming mode because the previous owner changed the pass code so the tech did what he called a "Factory Reset" to return the unit to all original settings. The tech said on the m370 a "Master Reset" doesn't always clear and reset the pass code to the factory setting of "0000".
As stated in my previous post the hard install kit for the i95 makes a big difference. I travel today to an area where service usually was hit and miss at best and today when it was in the cradle I never lost service. Granted the M370 is a 3watt radio which is hard to beat, I switched because it was a pain having to use two differfent phones & numbers.
