MAXTRAC PROBLEM, CANT FIGURE OUT....
hey all, hopefully someone knows more than i do about this and can help. i have a maxtrac, radius model, and the problems im having are
1. the mdc id doesnt display on the screen. i've programed the call list but only one one channel so far i got it to recieve the id. im using the same signalling system for a few channels but on the rest of them, it wont even flash. any ideas on this?
2. on the signalling channels the radio will not unmute right away, it takes bout half a second or more to unmute. how do u fix this?
3. and lastly, is there a way to change the scan hang time? i cant find it in the software.
i appriciate all the help i can get with this. thanx to everyone with help.

HI:
Couple of questions 1st.
Maxtracs have been around for sometime, do
you have the " Exact " model number of the
radio ?
Anyhow, when you " ADD " a system, there
is a Screen for each one chosen.
In that screen is where you set all the
Adjustments, and if Decide Display is
Enabled or not.

the model number is D43LRA7PA5BK. i've already done all the system programing and i've monitored a channel that i've got the same signalling system on a couple channels but one channel will decode and the others wont. the only thing that i have different on the channel that decodes is no tx sig .
also if i read the radio and make the changes right there and reprogram it, it will go. but if i read the radio and save the data to a disk, or retrieve a codeplug from a disk that was read from the same radio, it will not program. i dunno if its a program problem or not. the file that has the scan hang time setting will not program, but when read from the radio, it will not show up. this is very odd, and confusing me. i've done a couple of these before and never encountered this. anyway, thanx again.

The model number you gave is actually a Radius mobile. It has no RSS programmable scan features.
Create a MDC signaling system. In that MDC signaling system, enable “display” if you like to see other ID’s. If you set PL required to NO, you will decode ID’s with or without the correct PL.
If you do not want to mute the initial data burst from other radios, set the “DosHoldOff “ to zero in the MDC screen. If left enabled, it will mute the RX for a short time to prevent you from having to listen the MDC ID from the other radios.
If these radios do not have any MDC ID, you will likely mute their first word every time.
In all the different radio personalities (channels) select the just created signaling system for RX and TX if you like to transmit MDC data as well.
In the call list, assign a two-digit display name for each ID to be received from other radios. In your case the call list is used to translate incoming MDC ID’s in a two-digit display name. Each radio should have a different ID and display name.
Use the F1 key for more information at each field that you are not sure about.
This sums up the basics pretty well.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think it will show the unit id. it will only show the id associated to the actual mdc id listed in the call list. it will only show the 00-99 or whatever in the list number. you have to put the number in the CA list. ex: mdc id 1342 in call alert spot 01 will show 01 on the display.
least that has been my experience w/ maxtracs and desktracs regarding the mdc.

It won't show the actual numeric ID but whatever spot it in on the radio. Like Nand said. You can have more than 99 IDs though. anything at 100 or above with show the first digit as hex. IE: 108 will display as A8. So on and so forth.werdnuts wrote:Correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think it will show the unit id. it will only show the id associated to the actual mdc id listed in the call list. it will only show the 00-99 or whatever in the list number. you have to put the number in the CA list. ex: mdc id 1342 in call alert spot 01 will show 01 on the display.

It looks like the Maxtrac can only read from 00 to 99, according to the “F1 hep” key. In the Radius RSS you can enter tree digits and the “F1 help” says it can go as high as 126. I wonder how they do that on a two-digit display. There is no mention of using the hex characters in there. I will have to try it too some day.
