hi,

we have these on our base staion radios at the fire dept. and ive seen some on personal mobiles. what exactly do they do? just curious! thanks for the replys in advance!

An Astron power supply is just that, It's a power supply. Astron is the maker. I have a couple of these powering different radio's around the shop. Nice power supplies don't have any complaints about them.

Basic response:
power supplies take the 120V AC from the city power grid and convert it to regulated 13.8V DC that the radio can use

mobile radios (VHF/UHF) require power supplies capable of supplying from 10-15 Amperes
high powered (50W+) low band radios generally require 20+ Ampere power supplies


Astron is one manufacturer of power supplies...others include
- Samlex
- ICT
- various others
