Post by radiofreak17 »

Hi guys.I just bought two Mtx8000 radios .The model number is H01UCC6DB3AN.i asked him if they could talk o each other and he told me no, because they are trunked only portables? Is this possible since they were built for dual trunking/conventional use.Any help appreciated

What radios do you own?: Too many..

They are capable of Type I trunking and conventional operation. With the proper codeplug, you can make the radio do type I,II,IIi trunking, and mdc, and give it a top display..

So far as I am aware, all MTX8000s will do conventional on the lower 800 channels (851-856), which are the ones on which a non-public safety licensee can obtain a conventional (non-trunked) license.

Anything is possible, I supposed, but I am not aware of any manipulation via RSS that could permanently delete the conventional capability.

That said, I doubt the utility of the radios for your use since it would be very hard to get an 800 license for a conventional channel.

He might be thinking of the MTX800, a radio which is not capable of conventional operation.

But I agree with the consensus - the MTX8000 is quite capable of 800 MHz conventional operation. Not all PS services that are on 800 MHz are trunked.

They will do 10 channels conventional. Had quite a few as glorified scanners to listen to the local city systen till it went Astro.

They'll hold a lot more than that if you know what you're doing. :)

The MTX8000 is capable of lots!

It can do Type I, Type II and Type IIi trunking.
It can do Conventional.
It can do MDC
It can do 255 modes
It can do both public safety and non channels..trunked and otherwise.

Like Heterodyne said, it's a matter of knowing what you're doing!
