anyway in the rss to have a spectra start up with the back light on?

Not that I know of, but if it was on when the unit was turned off and you don't disconect the main A+ to the power conector, just use the ignition to turn it off, then it should stay on what ever you had it set at when it went off. Mine does.

To enable the back lighting you:
F4 - change codeplug
F6 - control head configuiration
F9 - control head options

Once there, you can change the default backlighting to ENABLE then set default dim to high, medium, low or off.

If I remeber correctly though you will need newer firmware for this option to work.
