Re: What do you have in your Car
Just a few radios. A M34 438-470 Spectra connected to a 100 watt TPL amp, & a 30 watt 900 MHZ GTX. Both for ham freq's. Also a "R" split AS3 for when I leave the car. That's it. Nothing else. GARY N4KVE

Good golly a lot changes in seven years....Josh wrote: Wow, some of you guys' vehicles are loaded with crap.
I, on the other hand, being on a limited budget, and not employed by Law Enforcment, am living happily with what I have in my '94 Ford Escort.
Most occasions: GP300 UHF (GMRS and 423/428Mhz DPW frequency) in change holder between seats, GP300 or GP350 VHF in my hand.
Special occasions: GM300 VHF, magnetic antenna. OR, Maxtrac800 radio. But, when I don't want to be carrying the GM300, I use a battery eliminator, and antenna adaptor to hook the GP350 up to the car.
Nothing special, but who cares! Soon, I'll have an MTX8000 to replace my STX 821, too.....OOOH, I can afford to replace my 1985 equipment with 1995....I'm moving on up!
One thing, I don't have (and never will) is any NEXTEL iDUM garbage....Nexthell interferes to much with my local public safety as it is.

My 2007 Focus has an Astro Spectra PLUS (800), CDM1550XLS (VHF) a VRS750 and SVR200 (both UHF).... cheapo kenwood CD/AM/FM deal with USB for jams. I also keep an HT1250LS+ in there to work with the VRS/SVR units as mobile-extending is the new hotness.
Still no NexTel.... the MTX8000 I spoke of was sold off in August 2002 when I upgraded big time to an XTS3000... actually all the radio spoken of are long gone.

Re: What do you have in your Car
Wow, since I last posted in this thread 7 years ago, I have since gotten a totally different car, with no radio equipment in it (except if you count the portable that I carry on my in the car from time to time). I've since sold all my mobiles, and am strictly all portables as of now. I'm sick of drilling holes in my new vehicles, only to trade them off every 1 - 2 years.

Re: What do you have in your Car
Not done with mine yet, but my final config will be:
-W9 VHF J-split 40W and W9 800 Astro Spectras chained together using the HRR setup
-W4 Range 2 UHF Astro Spectra
-Syntor X9000 110W lowband
-Model 1 12W MCS2000 for 900 MHz
-The fabled Astro Saber AVA/HHCH kit
-Motorola HHCH CB, as seen on Hamsexy
-2x BCD996T scanners
-No woo-woo lights, sirens, or wacker gear. I'm not even sure I want to put the spotlight back on, even though they're handy for night work.
