Was wondering if there is a better alternative for a revert charger that will work with the MTR3000 than the overpriced Argus L1884 unit. Will be used on a 100watt VHF unit

That's a negative, ghostrider.

Samlex goes to your battery bank. Battery bank goes to your MTR3000. Low voltage disconnect between the batteries and the station to keep it from sucking them down and an early trip to the scrap heap.

Most will run the MTR off AC power. You may want to consider running the station from the batteries all of the time. While this impacts the ability to reduce TX power when on battery backup, it also adds a layer of protection against lightning.

Better to have the batteries go kaboom from a lightning hit instead of your station AND your batteries going kaboom from a lightning hit.

By way of information, is there a problem if one connects BOTH the AC supply and the DC supply to active supplies , relying on the unit to fail over to the other in the event of a failure of either?

I'm getting the impression that this is not doable, but would like confirmation or rejection by an experienced party.

According to the manual, you could run your station through it's battery point off the Samlex if you purchase enough supply modules. I don't know off hand how much a 100W MTR3K draws. Put the MTR on the load side of the Samlex, and the batteries obviously go on the battery side. A LVD is recommended. You'll need an adjustable monitor relay to set the thresholds and a contactor to handle the current.

I don't think so. The MTR should always look for AC power first. If you have AC power present then it will ignore
