HT1000 QCII/Scan problems

I have a HT1000 VHF DN set up as the Scan/Squelch option. A is used as QCII on channel 2 only and works as should. B is Monitor. C is set up for Scan. This is where the problem comes in. The radio will not unmute on channel 2(QCII) while in scan(option C) even if there is no other radio traffic on any other channel that is in the scan list. If I key the radio up, the radio will then unmute to radio traffic for about 10 seconds after the key up and then reset itself.

I was wodnering is there any setting I could change or what I would need to do in able to get this to work correctly to recieve the channel that has the QCII set up on while in scan mode. Thank you in advance for your help!

The option you say you have for A don't exist, so i'm gonna guess that A is set to blank or unprogrammed in the rss. Need more info on the signal you're trying to recieve, freq, pl, and tones? I'm gonna guess that the problem is with your and/or settings giving it permission. The answer to your question is yes it can be done but we need more info

And when you're scanning are you attempting to monitor channel 2 for all activity or only QCII encoded activity ?

The setting in the Scan settings are - Scan type - Priority, PL Scan - Disabled, Priority Channel unmute - Enabled, Priority Defined @ Ch.2, Designated Tx chan - Disabled, Talkback scan - Enabled, Active Channel Tone - Enabled, Scan Channel Lockout - Disabled, PL Defeat - Enabled, Nuisance Delete - Enabled, Sel Channel Unmute - Disabled, QCII scan - Enabled, MDC Decode scan - Enabled, MDC sel. call scna - Enabled, Tx/Rx Hangtime @ 3 seconds. I am trying to receive all traffic on the scan setting on the QCII channel

If you guys need anymore Info please let me know.

Ok, what's the tones and the setup, single tone, a/b, a/b/c...? Does disbatch transmit tones with pl or dpl? And I guess another huge question, do you have permission to be on this channel, are you on this department?

Yes I have permission to transmit, as I am on the department. It is set up as a dual tone. just a/b. The Tx DPL is 271 and Rx is CSQ

ok still with the tones, is one of them long? And i'm guessing your tones are sent out over your main system and not on a freq by itself so the tones are sent out csq but for normal operation do you use a dpl on rx? So far it's sounds like a simple straight forward system so it's an overlooked setting. Is there a local shop that services the system or programs the radios for your department?

A tone is 1 seconds and B tone is 3 seconds. It is a very simple system. The dpl on Rx is correct just how you worded it. The communications advisor for our division works with me on a side job, but we are both clueless.

ok then let me ask this, you have the freq on ch 2 recieve with the signaling set to qcII and the tones are correct. And if I was programming that radio i'd make that channel a rx only. What happens if you turn the scan off and just leave it sit on ch 2? Does it work correctly?

Yes, with the scan off, the radio works as it should

is the auto reset enabled under your quick call II settings? disable that, make sure your signal muting condition is AND and mute unmute is AND/OR under your channel configuration options

edit to add....I would also would not use priority scan if wanting to decode QC tones.

I dont need it to decode the tones while in scan mode, I just want it to pick up on the channel as a priority since Ill be selected on it

ok if it works correctly when scan is off and from what you say about the tones transmitted i'd say the one second for the first tone is not long enuf while scanning, it takes longer than that to get to the priority channel.

it is not recommended to use scan and QCII or MDC decode. It works about as reliably as the "talkgroup scan" feature in the privacy plus days where you could scan multiple PP and conventional systems. Seems like a nice capability in theory, but in practice, it sucks.

I have never had QC tones missed while in scan mode. I have all my MT2k's and HT1ks setup this way. Ive personally never had a missed tone out of about 1600 calls per year at my fire department, so as far as reliability goes, not been a problem here...I only scan 9 channels max though. I have never tried to set one up like what the OP is doing though, if I was going to try and use an HT as a pager I would set it up with say ch16 set for muted QCII not being scanned and have my autoreset timer set on 60 seconds so that will let you hear traffic for atleast that long unless the PTT is pressed then countdown starts again...if you need to use the radio normally then turn scan back on and put the rotary knob back on the normal channel......works similar to an off/on duty switch to a pager and is as close to a pager as your gonna get I think trying to use an HT.
