I have 2 friends with the radios. They work well. I wanted one until I was advised that the thin battery available didn't last very long. With the regular battery the unit is rather fat for my liking. I like the feel of the HT1250 better. Bill

Something to consider: EX-600=HT1250 in a VISAR-sized box.
Same kinda size issues with VISAR still apply to the EX's. They work just peechy-keen-neato when they want to.

Great Radio The EX-600!!!

Hi

You can listen to all the bad points about the new series of radios. But if I were you I would get a loaner for a few days and see if you like it. A lot dealers will rent or loan you one for free. I have 4 EX-600, 10 + HT-1250 and over a 100 HT-750 in service. All these radio are VHF and the guys out in the field really like them. Yes the HT-600, MT-1000 and HT-1000 are great radio and I still have several of those in service. But I have had only one HT-750 out of the box to be bad, sent it back Big M and they sent me a new one no questions asked. The EX-600 is not the Visar and the visar is/was a piece of junk. The only draw back with the EX-600 is there is no travel charger out at this time.

I do not think you could go wrong buying the EX-600 or HT-1250.

That's my ten cents.

Also look at the VX-900 Vertex, it seems to get great reviews!!!
