Hello.

I am trying to install 8.0 CPS on my pc (Windows XP with Service pack 3) and when the installation introduction screen comes up, my entire computer freezes. Has anyone experienced this before?

You might have some background software conflicting. You might try "msconfig" using the run command and limit your startup programs.
