I have several VHF ASTRO Spectra High Power Radios I want to press into service.
I have a few W3 heads but only 1 "Y cable".
Has anyone tried to make a cable from a different type of 25 pair cable? i.e a W7 Cable... snicker.
I know I can plug the mic directly into the radio but have no way to get speaker audio or Ignition sense.
Suggestions?

Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

You're not thinking cheap enough.
How about picking up some D-25 serial cables (I see them for 25 cents each at thrift shops and hamfests) then making the necessary changes?

I was thinking OLD Printer cable too.
Just wondering if anyone had already done it and is there any signal interference problems.
I got a box full of old printer cables.
Thanks Tim

Someone had made a hack where you can plug the HHCH into the radio and on the 2nd port (middle of radio through the handle) you run ign power/jumper and speaker.
I had emailed they user but kept getting emails rejected.

oh and you can use old printer cables, just make sure they are shielded. I have used them to extend the HHCH on mid-power w3's
