Interfaceing an MCS2000 Model III with an ITA2000A

Post by madfrenchie »

Hello,

I have an ITA2000A which I am trying to interface with a Motorola MCS2000 radio.

From what I have read from other forum posts the MCS2000 is capable of doing channel steering when programmed correctly. In the users manual that came with the ITA2000A it shows directions on how to connect the unit to an MCS2000 and shows some pins as "Programmable" but Ive been up and down the CPS and have not found any option to program the pins with different features.

Here is a picture of the pin out in the ITA2000A's Manual. As you can see under Radio Function it says Programmable.

Any help would be appreciated on getting Channel Steering working

Thank You.

AFAIK the MCS2000 will not do channel steering. Notice that in your chart the radio connector pins associated with channel steering are all marked N/C, No Connection.

As jackkacket stated, The MCS2000 itself does not do channel steering. the ITA2000 can only remotely key the MCS2000.

If you look at page 19 of the ITA2000 book at the top (I looked at both revision 43004-010C and 43004-010H), it specifically states pins 1, 5, 8, 9, and 15 can only be made if the radio supports channel changing logic.

I have a couple of (4) channel M1225 radios that are in nice shape and will do channel steering nicely. I believe I still have the cables to do the interfacing.

send me a PM if you are interested.
