XTS3000 fails to finish self test
Today my XTS3000 was delivered from an Ebay purchase. Radio was well packaged and looked to be in excellent shape. I attached an Impress battery to it and the screen icons flash briefly, no beep then nothing on the screen. The indicator light on top remains on, lit green. I tried to put it in test mode, tried reading it......nothing changes.
Thoughts?

Any secret to un-brick it? The seller offered me a refund but I kinda want to keep it.

If it were inhibited, the green light would not remain illuminated after POST.

controller is bad ...more than likely one of the memory devices. not worth repairing the controller.
buy another one that passes selftest

Re: XTS3000 fails to finish self test
It's interesting to see how the memory chips on the 3k's have been slowly dying over the last few years while the jedi series are still ticking along just fine. It'll be interesting to see how the 2500/5000 series fares in terms of longevity.

My guess is that they will likely live quite a good, long life. There were a lot of lessons learned with the ASTRO Saber and XTS 3000. Keep in mind those were first generation radios.W3AXL wrote:It's interesting to see how the memory chips on the 3k's have been slowly dying over the last few years while the jedi series are still ticking along just fine. Re: XTS3000 fails to finish self test
The last series of radios to have eeproms rated at the 1 Million ops before failure was the Greyhound/X9000 series. The XTS3k/Astro radios had a much less severe MTBF, and the series since then were bumped up in reliability some.
