XPR7550 RF adapter

So my XPR got run over by a car the other day and I figured I'd do a full alignment on it while it was on the bench getting a new everything except the main board. I found the RF service port on the back, and these part #s for the adapter:

PMLN6154A, RF ADAPTER and PMLN6155A, RF ADAPTER HOLDER

which cost a whopping $158 and $134 from MOL, respectively. No thanks.

Is there a more cost-efficient alternative? Or should I just go find a shop to "borrow" one from?

looked at the same issue and posted a question to see if there was a standard connector that would fit.

For a single radio I would just use a smaller 50 ohm coax with a center pin and tack the ground close by.

The connector has a built in switch to disconnect the antenna and matching components.

I tried my limited selection of micro-connectors and nothing worked, so I figured it was something proprietary. Thanks for the responses.

It does look a lot like a satellite radio antenna connector. I wonder if you had a spare one laying around and it's not required, try the connector to see if it fits and if so, cut it up and try using that?

Put another $100 with the cost of the adapter kit and flat rate it.

Our department has multiples of these kits. All the Gen II radios use some form of this adapter.

This is an item that only a 2-way shop would buy. Not an end user who wants to attach an external antenna to a Gen 2 radio. Moto's thinking is the shop will generate thousands of dollars in alignments by using this adapter kit. So they price it accordingly. GARY

I think it's possible that the coax insert used in DIN41612 connectors might just fit. On the left here:



The ID of the inner bifurcated section is 4.2mm. But could be gently squeezed tighter or open +/- 0.5mm with tweezers.

If this fits I'll mail you one with some coax attached.

The connector on those boards appear to be Hirose MS-147. The mating connector for test would be Hirose MS-147-HRMJ-1.
This is a MS-147 to SMA adapter.

ordered a inexpensive MS-147 to SMA cable.
Requires disassembly.

There is a roughly $25 straight adapter on the major parts sites. Not sure it's long enough to avoid disassembly on the 7000 but may work on the 3000 series.

They do have longer/ deeper ones but then you get back to the $122 price tag.

FWIW they make a call box kit with the XPR7550/XPR7550e chassis with an SMA jack as we're all used to... if one is enterprising you can order the jacks and replace them on the PCB, problem solved

These are the two part numbers as-ordered from the original post. They are well worth it for a frustration-free experience when tuning or testing the XPR 7550.
