mtr2000 upgrade to mtr3000
Looking for info on the upgrade (mtr2000 upgrade to mtr3000). The kits I am seeing now include the PA and make this not cost effective. Does anyone have the correct part number to make this cost effective?
always trying to learn new things

IT is not cost effective. Really the only thing you don't have to swap out with the upgrade is the cage frame and the power supply.
The SLR8000 is probably most cost effective as the MTR3000 is end of life, and the upgraded MTR2000 is REALLY end of life.

I agree. I always thought the MTR 3000 was really hokey, and it was never something I cared for.
The SLR 8000, as Charles said, is the way to go. It's a very, very nice radio.

+1 on not recommending the upgrade. The MTR2K is a fine machine, and you won't gain any benefit from upgrading. If you want to go digital, then buy a new radio, or wait for the MTR3K's to come on the market as they age out. So far, they are turning out to be good radios too.
