I am seeking qualified help with two Astro Spectras: one mid power mobile, one consolette, both VHF.
Consolette displays "Fail 01/92" on power-up. Mobile displays "Fail 01/90" repeatedly.
Will compensate and ship both ways, or will deliver in SE USA. Reply via PM with contact informatiion, please.

you may be better off just buying some working ones on Ebay.
Yes I can repair these but chances are I would end up buying a chassis for parts anyway.
the 01/90 says your control head and radio are not talking and if that's a dashmount configuration the controller /VOCON has an issue.
If this is a trunk mount setup than you may be missing the power to the radio ...heads powered up though.
Same thing on the 01/92 ....bad VOCON most likely. possibly recovered by re-programming but sounds like the FLASH chips are failing.
The cost to ship these back and forth plus the repair cost on a 25 year old radio are usually not worth it.
You may want to switch to XTL 's at least

I am in Ohio and UPS ground could be $150 round trip for both.
I do have the tools to update the firmware and a Aeroflex 3920 to AutoTune as needed.
The APX series are still worth the effort but previous models are usually not.
