That's because the MTX8000 is an 800MHz radio and the MTX9000 is a 900Mhz radio. There are also MTX838s which are on UHF.

All three MTX models are trunking radios although they can also do conventional. Some do typeI while others do TypeI, II, and IIi trunking.

Because there are no VHF trunked SMR systems (as the MTX line was meant for business SMR systems), there is no VHF MTX radio. However, the MTX's cousin, the MTS2000 comes in VHF, UHF and 800Mhz although not 900Mhz as it was meant to be a Public Safety radio with the trunked models supporting Smartnet trunking and encryption.

You could consider an MTX838, they come in 800/900 and UHF and VHF and are almost Identical to the MTX8000/9000 series.

For current pricing, check E-bay, that would be the going rate. They usually go for (depending on condition, etc.) $300 (for a good B4 (or A4) model). If you want a full keypad radio (A/B7) expect to pay a bit more.

Now you guys have me wondering, what is an MTX2000 ???????
An export radio ?

Yes, the MTX2000 is an over-seas radio. The MTX 8000/9000 B3 VHF/UHF equivalent would be the HT1000. Both are identical.
