What different kinds of /\/\ vehicular computers were/are there? I've been looking on eBay for anything, just to kinda play around with, but apparently, "Motorola Computer" is too vague.

not sure about vehicluar, but moto did make computers in the early 80's.

they bought a company called "four phase systems" and sold both fps and moto branded comps under the name "motorola -information systems division".

i would like to add a system 70 and 90 fps cpu's to my mini comp collection - i all ready have the printer,hd,diablo disk drive and i/o half of the fps iv90

any motorola/fps mini collectors on the list?

Motorola made Mac clones for a while since they were part of the development team that came up with the power pc platform.

Lol....maybe this was my problem.... I mean the car computers. The MDT, or whatever they're called.

I saw a NIB unit just the other day, ran across it by accident. It was part of a train de-railment lot, was a pentium 2 or 3, nice screen, had the radio, all cables, everything. It was starting at less than a grand. It was "pc beige" color, and really neat. I will rack my brain for the search I was doing, to try to find it again, it should just be ending or ended within a day.

Sorry I don't have any pictures to post at this time, but there are some very nice laptop/CDT units available on the market. Many departments are upgrading their old MDTs (monochrome display, compact black housing) to the new CDTs (full size laptop, color screen, full IBM style keyboard functions). I can't remember who makes them off hand but they came with Motorola data modems when our county upgraded the fleet. They're very nice and are limited only by the capabilities of your dispatch system. Ours will allow transfer of digital pictures, satelite mapping, various LE database access, traffic tickets, forms on the fly, etc. The list of what you can do with the new units is just about endless. -but they come with a decent price tag. $3K - $5K per unit (includes the modem if I remember). I'll post a picture if I can find one, I'll ask for more details tonight.
