Ok, my golfcart, which I have decked out with a mini-lightbar, wig-wags, whelen siren, and GM300 has 2 batterys, 1 for the starter on the engine, and the other for the acc's.. Sometimes if the starter battery is in use for a few hours runs down, even though it has a generator to charge it. Is it ok, to put like a battery switch like we use on the squads batteries, then make it use the acc battery for the starter? If so, where can I find one of those big switches for cheap? Or I could use a solenoid with a switch next to the emergency lighting switches.

Any advice is appreciated!

Go to a boating store. They have the "Off / 1 / 2 / Both" switches that you can use. I'm not even going to beging guessing what this thing is used for....

I don't get any response vehicle at my college to use, a golf cart would fill that nice little void......

If there is a GOOD auto parts in your area, get a Cole-Hersee catalog and they also can get the switch for you. CH has both the "on-off" and the "on 1-off-on 2-both" variety.

Golf carts' generators aren't that large. Most use a starter/generator setup which provides a few amps of charge current to run the ignition and replenish the battery after a start.
You may want to consider fabricating brackets and mounting a small Nippondenso or Bosch alternator to charge both batteries through an isolator (set charge at 14.8v). If you'd do this, eliminate the generator portion of the original starter/generator set. Use the battery switch to bypass the isolator and tie both batteries together if you run the aux. battery dead.

If you have a steering wheel horn button on this cart, be sure you connect the hands-free siren into the horn button so you don't have to let go of the wheel while in pursuit of gophers.

You now need to mount a ProGaurd electric gun release rack to put those valuable clubs in. Perhaps maybe keep the shotgun in there in case somebody cheats your game. I would actually recommend using the AR-15.

If you're gonna use a Whelen siren, at least make sure it's the Alpha12Q. We all just love the old GE PowerCall tone it reproduces.

ok we have a "GEM" it is a chrysler electric car it is all decked out to be a dare care but some fool ran the m1225 ant wire diredtly under the siren box and when you tx it sounds the siren LOL I will post pics if I can its kinda cool in a cheap kinda way.LOL

I already beat u on that idea, Whelen Hands Free, with a horn button on the side..lol..works perfect.

What exactly do you use the golf car for? . . . And do you happen to have any pictures of it? I bet it looks kinda cool.

matter of fact I just spent 18 hours at Relay For Life Cancer walk providing first aid to the walkers, and I got a few pics. We use it alot for fairs, and other outdoor events where patients are hard to reach with a squad. I will post some pics as soon as I get them developed.

Developed? What's that? Is that like back in the 20th century where people actually had to take the pictures out of the camera and to the drug store where the pharmacist gave the pictures some drugs to wake them up so people could see them? Wow, that is so . . . so . . . so like last century!

I'm yanking your chain. Don't be offended. I just haven't seen anyone mention online about having film processed in a long time. I have a degree in photography, and the darkroom was my usual hangout. (Darkroom, not dark room. Get your minds out of the gutter!!!) In fact until my divorce in 1996 when I lost my house, I had a small custom processing business going on my very well equipped darkroom.

All in fun folks. All in fun. At least I didn't give him any abuse about golf carts and giant fish stories. Wait. . . I meant . . . oh, never mind.

Well, I certainly won't laugh... seen a few "decked out" golf carts used as in house industry fire/ems vehicles.

I do have a question though... how long does the battery last on that thing when you got all the lights, flashers and gadgets going? I can't imagine the little generator being able to sustain the amperage needed.

I have a seperate marine battery for lights, sirens, radios, ect.. I use a regular car battery to start the engine.

We built one for a local tech school police chief. I'll take pics sometime. This thing runs 40 mph.
