Anyone know if sho-me aka able 2 products will repair there sirens or is it cheaper to just replace them? I have one of the undercover models that has a short to ground in it and was considering sending it back to them for repair. Didn't want to bother if it was going to cost as much as a new one. Just wondering if anyone has delt with them before. This is for a friend and I normally only use the whelen products but he picked this one up resonable and it fits perfect where he had it installed in his truck. Also if anyone would know where to get one of these for under a 100.00 let me know. It's their model 30.2104 with the wail,yelp, phaser, and airhorn sounds. Thanks for any info and help!!

Check for a Date which may be engraved on it, Able 2 will repair it under warranty for 2 years after manufacture, Also all that Able 2 will charge is the cost of the part replaced...... Isnt that nice, no labor charges.

The Date Is engraved inside the case over the coil.

As a dealer for Able 2 they are very good about repairing items that were not MISUSED if this is you case then send it back and I an sure you will be happy with the outcome

Cool, I'll drop em an e-mail and see where to go from there. I did pull the unit apart to look for burn't componets, bad traces etc. but nothing found. I'll get in touch with em and see where to go from there. The unit is pretty nice for it's compact size and all. Not sure on the manufacture date but it looks brand new. My friend got it and I think it was sitting on a shelf somewhere. Got it for 50.00 which I thought was a good deal. Thanks for the great info!!!!

Also while I'm asking, does any one know if there is a place to get SVP sirens repaired? I've got a SVP SA-450 that is in need of repair. I replaced it instead of looking for a repair but if I can get it fixed cheap I'd like to have it installed back in place of the other siren. Thanks for any info on that. I know SVP has changed hands a few times and not sure who owns them now and if the service any of the older products or not. If not I can finally pitch this thing into the dumpster after getting the parts out of it. Thanks again!!!

SVP sirens were made by Carson Co. I believe they might still repair them. Its been a while since Ive used one. Most everyone here is a Federal TM-4 or PA-300 user.

I would just replace it. Personally, I dont like the tone sounds of Sho-Me. If your looking for a compact siren, Federal Signal's sw4000 is a grat one. The Galls Street Thunder is good as well. They are durable and have good tones.

i agree with the Fed Sig but the Galls? eesh...don't let Jim see that....not a fan, to say the least.

Galls makes good chef clothing, and for good reason, they're owned by a food service company.

i've seen more than enough cooked galls siren equipment.

ugh...toss all that crap and pop in anything:

1) Unitrol
2) Whelen
3) Powercall

Unitrols can be had cheap on epay (80k amps) and Whelen's are great units too at reasonable prices. If you want to be different, can always go with the powercall

Powercall though? Seriously....can you wait 10 weeks for a modified Carter/SVP siren? The do sound cool, but so does the Whelen Alpha12Q.

As for Gall's....if it has electricy flowing through it and it reads "Gall's", don't even bother. It's kiddie garbage and I can assure you it has no DOT or SAE ratings.

SA-400 is an awesome siren...if you contact signal vehicle products (the makers of the SA-500) they may still have parts to fix those sirens, they did mine. it just doesnt have the built in switchbox

as for the Gall's V-Con, i think it a great sounding siren and it is very functional, and being a heavy user, myself and my friends have three of them that have never failed.

I have a couple of the fedsig touchmaster delta's, they look good, but i cant get them to do their thing unless i have the TEST mode button in. The park kill is not hooked up and all the power wires go where they are supposed to, I dunno

The Touchmaster needs internal mods to make it operate like the "other" similar sirens.

i called fedsig after posting and got what i needed to know.
i dont like siren/switchboxes that require you to go all the way over on the pursuit switch to get siren tones
i REALLY dont like a siren that you HAVE to hook up the horn or a momentary button to cycle through all the tones, that SUCKS

thats why i like the trafficbuster V-CON, it is plain and simple, and is loud enough to do the job

Hey, DPG...just to let you know, Galls' doesn't actually MAKE any of their own stuff (at least lights & sirens wise; I dunno about the other stuff); they buy someone else's (in your case, Code 3's V-Con) and slap their name on it.

Jim, you mentioned that Galls' stuff doesn't usually carry certs for DOT and/or SAE. If the units being sold as, say, Code 3 V-Con meet the specs for those 2 agencies, why wouldn't they meet them as Galls' V-Con? Just wondering.

Yes, I knew that code-3 was the manufacturer. You can take a gall's siren and the sticker, peel it off and it says code-3 right under it. I just use the name based on what the siren says on the front. I bought 14 of the V-Cons at one time, half of them said Gall's Trafficbuster, and the other half said Code-3 V-CON.

Whelen Alpha Series. Probably find alot of those floating around. FedSig makes some decent ones as well.
