MTS-2000 battery connection intermitant

We are having this problem constantly with many many many MTS-2000 portables. The battery will randomly lose contact with the pins on the radio. This is really annoying because of the self-test delay and it resets the nusaince delete when scanning.

Now, I know some of this is due to the worn out crappy clips that hold the battery in. But the same thing happens even on radio with a good tight battery (ie- Mine). I've tried cleaning the pins and contacts to no avail.

What can be done to make this annoying problem go away?

Are you using the motorola belt clip on these radios? My son has one of these and uses the belt clip rather than the holster type carrier and had the same problem. Solved it several years ago by having him remove the battery from the radio each night before recharging. Wearing the radio for 10+ hours at a time with this clip pulls the battery away from the radio just enough to cause it to reset and removing it from the radio overnight will allow it to return to it's correct postion - or change your carrier. I have the lower capacity battery which pulls away easily but he has always used a higher capacity battery which still gets distorted after a fairly short time.

Nope. It has always been in a holster. I have a belt clip now because I hate the holster but I just started using that today. It has always been in a holster.

I've had problems with the battery pins on the radio being interfered by the orange rubber gasket. I've taken a retractable ball point pen with the pen retracted and pushed the rubber gasket slightly back into the radio.

It's and /\/\ Battery. I tried the gasket & pen thing. We'll see what happens.

Good diagnoses, Nand, the RF board gets loose from the frame due to a incorrectly installed shield, and the contacts do not "reach" the battery. The shield gets bent and will not hold the RF bord tight against the frame. I have seen "pits" in the contacts too, that cannot be cleaned with the pencil eraser.

Also have had batteries with the contacts pushed in, just a little, causing the same problem.
