Differences between Maxrad and Antenex

Hi, need some help and picking out an antenna the ones IM thinking of getting are now the Maxrad MFB4505 and Antenex FG4505 Uhf can some one tell me the differences between these antennas

Maxrad's QC is better and the materials used for production are better. A few years ago I would have said the reverse but today Maxrad is better. CHILDS is better yet.

You'll have better luck with the Maxrad. They generally make pretty good fiberglass sticks at good prices. However....stay away from the MFB1503 VHF stick. It has a metal tunning rod (not shown in the manufacturers pictures) and will create issues for you down the road.

Keep in mind, there are 2 MFBs, 4505 for 450-460, and 4605 for 460-470. You really really don't want to use the wrong band antenna---trust me, ok?

I use them all the time and they're good, tough little sticks. Ditto on the 1503. Seems Maxrad makes really good 450 stuff but their hi band stuff sux.

Also note that those sticks have a rg8 type pigtail with a MALE N conn., so you need a FEMALE N connector for you coax cable.

The Antenex FG has a 18 gauge wire for the radiator!!!!??? with a couple of curly cues in it!!!(just ask Monty)

The Comtelco BS XL series has accual tublar copper elements, and a much better bandwith and intermod capabilities.
