I just did the 8K upgrade on my UHF x9000. Now when in scan mode it wont RX on the indicated channel unless it's in the scan list or I turn scan off. I dont think it used to be that way. I could have scan on and change modes to a mode that wasn't in the scan list and it would RX there. Am I crazy or what?

Chris,

Make sure you have "Operator Select" programmed for each mode you want in your scan list. Also make sure Scan Enable is Programmed in your control head.

It is only really a problem when using the operator select scan list. If you are using a mode slaved scan list, then you always program each mode into one of its own mode slaved scan lists.

The Syntor X 9000 RSS does not force you to include the selected mode (which is indicated on the display) in any of the 3 different scan lists (i.e. primary priority mode, secondary priority mode, non-priority modeS – emphasis added on the plural). Newer radio models after the Syntor X 9000, force you to include the selected mode in the scan list (either the operator select or mode slaved scan list).

The problem existed in your radio before you did the 8k upgrade.

Depending on your RSS version and how many modes you have programmed, you can try something like making each mode be its own primary or secondary priority scan mode (i.e. mode 1 - mode slaved priority scan mode 1, mode 2 - mode slaved primary priority scan mode 2, etc.....). This means you will not be able to program whichever priority level you decide to use, i.e. either primary or secondary, in the operator select scan list, but you will be able to select it with the control head MODE selector. This will force the selected mode to always be included, even when using the operator select scan list for the other priority level and non-priority scan.

Thanks mike. This explaines why I was never able to program a priority 2 scan channel before and the selected channel was recieved when scanning and it was not in the oper sel scan list.
Every mode was programmed as priority 2 in the mode scan list. I will reprogram the thing tonight.

The operation of the X9000 scan is not really a problem, it's just that it's literal in the way it's programmed.

All of my radios have the selected mode, whatever it is, as the priority one mode in the mode slaved scan list. The second priority and the non priority scan lists are totally operator selectable. Like Mike said, mode one is priority one for mode one, mode two is priority one for mode two and so on. It's a major pain in the ass to program, but I can crank out a 128 mode radio in about half an hour.

After a while you get quick with the keystrokes.
