Encryption for CDM1550 and HT1250 series

Post by Bill Rogers »

Hi. We had a local radio shop try to outfit our CDMs and HTs with Midian rolling code modules but they couldn't get them working well. The shop called Midian and they said that they would work better if we had the radios firmware upgraded. Any ideas on other encryption boards that might work better with these radio models? Or maybe a shop that has better experience with the Midian boards that we can send them to? Appreciate any opinions. Bill

At the shop I work at this problem is not all that un-common with these radios. The speech inversion does have some major aduio issues for some reason.

One we encountered was with the volume knob being moved a mm it sent the volume from a low level/nothing to almost what seemed like an ear blowing out level????

I have heard of the firmware upgrade helping in the respects that if you advise Motorola what you are trying to do they will upgrade the firmware to match that.

I guess one main question is are they using the plug-in boards with the mui bus or are they hardwiring the boards in.

We have noticed that using the plug-in boards does produce better audio and toggle on/off of the board compared to hardwiring them in.

Greetings. They istalled the plug in matching modules. They had to add some additional wiring though. It got messed up because it affected the audio quality on all channels even ones with no rolling
code turned on. We had trouble turning it on and off. It became useless. Bill
