X9000 scan programming

I recently saw a topic on the board concerning making an X9K receive on a channel outside the regular scan list while scanning, but can't seem to find it again. Can anyone tell me where it is?

Its been awhile since I have programmed up a scan list for a x9000, but if I read you question correctly (since you can only have one list in a x9000), you have to enable scan on all channels, and I think thats it. That way when you do go on a channel that is not in the scan list, the radio will still scan it. If a channel does not have the user selectable scan enabled on that mode, it will never scan it even though its selected. You won't even hear any audio if the radio is in the scan mode and on that channel.

For syntox x9000 scanning you have to 1.) make sure you have scan as Y in all the channels.
Now what you have to do is select it so that priority follows the selected channel.
If the channel you select is not in the scan list it will not scan it at all. So you must select it so priority follows selected channel.
Had many issues with this until I found this gem out for myself.

OK, that helps a lot. What I was looking for must have been for a different radio, because I seem to remember something about "mode slaved" scan, but can't find anything like that in the RSS. I think ya'll have the answer to my problem. Thanks!

"Mode Slaved" simply means the scan list is preprogrammed into the mode selection and the individual modes selected in the scan list are not operator selectable. This requires you to use the control head Mode key to select a mode, which comes with its preprogrammed scan list that the operator cannot change.
Each individual mode in the Syntor X 9000 can be programmed to do "mode slaved" or "operator select" scan lists (you can only do one or the other, never both in the same individual mode). If you choose operator select, there are no pre-programmed scan list modes, so you have to enter the entire scan list from the control head. If you choose mode slaved the operator is stuck with the preprogrammed scan list.

Each mode divides the scan list into 3 different parts. There is a single mode for Primary Scan Priority, a single mode for Secondary Scan Priority and a list of multiple modes for the Non-Priority scan modes. Any of these 3 parts of the scan list may be "mode slaved" or "operator select" for each mode programmed into the radio.
If you want the primary priority scan to automatically follow the control head mode selection, program the primary priority to be mode slaved and have the selected mode as the primary priority scan list mode, for each mode in the radio. BTW, you can do this with secondary priority scan modes instead if you want to.
If you want to you can make the other priority scan mode and the non-priority scan modes operator select. This will make the desired priority scan mode always follow the selected mode on the control head while still allowing the operator to program the rest of the scan modes.
If you do not want the operator to be able to select scan modes, you can also make the other priority scan mode and/or non-priority scan list mode slaved.
Just make sure the scan list for each mode is programmed correctly and you are done.
