My UHF Spectra (mid power) today started flashing a fail 001, about every 5 seconds. I've done a power reset but still flashes. Any ideas? BTW its used as a control station, indoors on an Astron supply.

Fail 001 is 'Synthesizer out of Lock'. Did you program any channels out of band? Generally this can be corrected by tuning the radio's for the frequency out of band that you want. Are you on a frequency that is out of band, if so, switch to a frequency 'in-band' and see if it does the same thing.
Go to the batlabs page for more information:

Haven't changed the programming in about 2 years, radio has operated fine until today. Get the fail in the 462., 451, and 444 bands. The fail rate is faster in 444 and slower in 451.

Something is going bad, possibly a bad reference oscillator or leaking caps on the RF board. Probably will take a tech with the right tools to analyze it, but I would check for leaking caps, etc. on the RF board.

Yup!, bad caps on the RF board, and I fix them all the time. If your radios is doing that now, it will go sour on tx power soner or later also.

I have that problem with my 800mhz. Spectra at the station. It only flashes FAIL 001 on the trunked mode, not on any conventional modes.
